PASYPEFAA warns against unlicensed physical education practices

The Pan-Cyprian Association of Physical Education and Sports Graduates (PASYPEFAA) issued a statement on September 18, 2026, addressing the unauthorized practice of the physical education profession in Cyprus. The organization emphasizes the necessity of protecting the profession's integrity, ensuring public safety, and maintaining adherence to current national legislation regarding fitness and exercise services.

The Association expressed significant concern over individuals presenting themselves as qualified fitness instructors without the required university degrees, official registration, or legal licensing. PASYPEFAA argues that this practice undermines the value of formal education, creates conditions of unfair competition, and poses serious health and safety risks to citizens who may receive services from unqualified individuals.

Furthermore, the statement clarifies that licensed professionals are obligated to operate within the scope of their legal qualifications and must refrain from encroaching on the expertise of other regulated health and professional fields. The Association calls for strict observance of these standards to prevent the erosion of professional benchmarks.
