Lionel Messi set to become owner of Spanish club CD Eldense

Argentine football star Lionel Messi has reached an agreement to acquire the Spanish second-division club CD Eldense. The acquisition involves the full transfer of shares currently held by the Soluciones Group, a Colombian investment firm that took control of the club in October 2025. Outgoing president Carolina Holguin Tafur confirmed the transition, stating that the club is entering a new era under Messi’s leadership.

CD Eldense is based in Elda, a city of approximately 55,000 residents in the Alicante province. Historically, the club has operated in the lower tiers of Spanish football, but recent investments have propelled the team closer to La Liga. Under Holguin’s tenure, the institution notably achieved three promotions in a single season.

While the agreement is publicly confirmed by both the club's administration and the outgoing ownership, the deal currently awaits final ratification from the Spanish authorities and the Superior Sports Council (CSD). This administrative approval process is expected to conclude within the coming days, officially finalizing Messi's role as the new owner.
