Cyprus to launch unified electronic health record system

Cyprus is advancing its digital health sector with the development of the Integrated Electronic Health Record for Citizens (OHFYP), a project officially presented at the 9th Cyprus Health Conference in Nicosia on September 18, 2026. The system aims to consolidate all critical medical data for every citizen into a single, secure, and interconnected digital environment.

Professor Constantinos S. Pattichis, President of the National eHealth Authority (NeHA), detailed that the project has a budget of 21.1 million euros. The platform will store comprehensive patient information, including medical history, prescriptions, laboratory results, diagnostic imaging, hospital records, allergy data, and transplant information. This initiative is designed to ensure continuity of care, improve accessibility for patients, and eliminate the burden of managing fragmented medical documents or redundant testing.

This development marks a significant shift in Cyprus's digital health infrastructure. By centralizing information, the authorities expect to optimize resource allocation and improve the efficiency of the healthcare system. The project serves as a key pillar in the modernization of national health services, moving away from decentralized record-keeping toward a fully integrated digital patient management model.
