Cyprus Port and Marine Police conclude joint exercise with Frontex

The National Coordination Centre (NCC – EUROSUR) of the Cyprus Port and Marine Police, in collaboration with the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex) and the EUROSUR Fusion Services (EFS) department, completed a two-day training and exercise program on September 17, 2026. The initiative focused on enhancing operational cooperation and improving the utilization of specialized surveillance and analytical tools provided by Frontex to EU member states.

The program began on September 16, 2026, with an informative session detailing the full catalog of analytical services available for maritime security. Participants included representatives from the Department of Customs, the National Guard Navy, the Search and Rescue Coordination Centre, the Anti-Narcotics Unit (YKAN), the Aliens and Immigration Unit (YAM), and personnel from KEM/ESK/PASYR. Following the briefing, an operational exercise was conducted on September 17, 2026, which utilized satellite imaging capabilities to detect and track Port and Marine Police vessels.

This initiative aimed to strengthen the operational readiness of Cypriot authorities by integrating advanced EU-level monitoring systems. The training underscored the ongoing efforts to bolster maritime border security through technological collaboration and shared analytical resources within the framework of EUROSUR.
