Larnaka 2030 hosts online community arts webinar series
The Larnaka 2030 European Capital of Culture organization, operating under the framework of the MedSEA project, is hosting an online webinar series titled “Setting out Together: A Journey into Community Arts.” The program consists of two sessions scheduled for September 28 and October 5, 2026, both running from 14:30 to 16:30.
The sessions aim to explore the intersection of participatory art, ethics, and co-creation. The primary focus is to examine the collaborative relationship between artists and local communities. Discussions will address how to build trust, the responsibilities inherent in using community stories as artistic material, and how to effectively transition from creating art for a community to creating art with one. The first session, titled “Discovering Common Ground: Values and Ethics in Participatory Arts Practice,” will delve into the ethics of artistic engagement and the integration of social, artistic, and human rights values.
These webinars are designed for those interested in the social aspects of creative practice, emphasizing the necessity of treating community participants as co-creators. All sessions will be conducted in English.
