On the night of September 18, 2026, around 10:30 p.m., a 26-year-old man was arrested by police following a high-speed incident on the Limassol-Paphos highway. Traffic police officers from the Avdimou unit identified the vehicle traveling at 161 km/h, significantly exceeding the 100 km/h legal limit. When ordered to stop, the driver ignored police signals and initiated a pursuit, driving recklessly until he turned onto the old Paphos-Limassol road, where he was finally intercepted.
Upon inspection, authorities determined that the driver was operating the vehicle without a valid driver's license or insurance certificate. Subsequent alcohol and drug tests conducted by the police yielded negative results. The individual was taken into custody to facilitate ongoing investigations into the multiple traffic offenses committed.
The Kouklia Police Station is currently overseeing the investigation. The driver faces serious legal repercussions for reckless driving, speeding, and failing to provide mandatory vehicle documentation.
