Police conduct nationwide enforcement operations and individual arrests in Cyprus

Over the past few days, the Cyprus Police have carried out nationwide, targeted operations to maintain public order and prevent criminal activities. During these efforts, hundreds of drivers were checked, resulting in numerous traffic citations, including fines for speeding and the impounding of several vehicles. Separately, individual incidents have occurred; in Nicosia, a 22-year-old was arrested for speeding at 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, and in Paphos, a 19-year-old was arrested following a high-speed chase. Police found burglary tools in the 19-year-old's abandoned vehicle.

The 22-year-old Nicosia driver has been charged and is scheduled to appear in court. Meanwhile, the 19-year-old from Paphos appeared in court on September 20 and was remanded in custody for two days. Police continue their investigation into the Paphos incident, while authorities maintain a heightened presence in urban areas to enhance public safety. Additional arrests for various offenses, including drug possession and outstanding warrants, have been reported across the country as part of these ongoing preventive measures.
