Recent traffic law enforcement operations in Cyprus

Cypriot authorities have conducted multiple operations targeting dangerous driving and traffic violations across the island, resulting in several arrests. On September 18, a 26-year-old was arrested on the Limassol-Paphos highway after being clocked at 161 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. He failed to stop for police, leading a pursuit before being caught on the old Paphos-Limassol road. Subsequent checks revealed he lacked a valid driver’s license and insurance. Drug and alcohol tests for this individual were negative, and the Kouklia Police Station is handling the ongoing investigation.

Separately, on September 19, a 22-year-old driver was apprehended in Egkomi, Nicosia, for driving at 100 km/h in a 50 km/h residential zone. The driver was charged in writing and released under a surety bond, with a court appearance scheduled for September 21. Additionally, on the same night, Paphos police pursued a vehicle involved in reckless driving and drifting; the occupants fled on foot, leaving behind a car containing burglary tools. Investigations are currently underway to apprehend the suspects, including a 19-year-old identified through evidence.
