Two separate traffic arrests for reckless driving in Cyprus

Cypriot police reported two distinct traffic incidents involving reckless driving this week. On the night of September 18, a 26-year-old man was arrested on the Limassol-Paphos highway after being clocked at 161 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. He initially failed to pull over, leading police on a pursuit that ended on the old Paphos-Limassol road. Subsequent checks revealed he lacked a driver’s license and insurance. While he tested negative for alcohol and drugs, the Koukklia Police Station continues to investigate the case.

Separately, on the night of September 19, a 22-year-old man was stopped by traffic police on Griva Digeni Avenue in Egkomi, Nicosia. He was recorded driving at 100 km/h in a 50 km/h zone, double the legal limit. Following his arrest, the driver was charged in writing and released on bail. He is scheduled to appear in court to face traffic violation charges, with the Agios Dometios Police Station handling the investigation.
