Emi Kasoulidou, wife of former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, dies at 76

Emi Kasoulidou, a dedicated anesthesiologist and the wife of former Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 76. She had been battling cancer for years, continuing her medical practice even while undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments.

Born in Nicosia, Kasoulidou met her husband while both were medical students in France. Throughout their decades-long marriage, she maintained a professional career in medicine while providing discreet support to her husband during his extensive political career. The couple had one daughter, Joanna, and two granddaughters, Emily and Katerina. Her passing has drawn tributes from many high-ranking officials, including President Nikos Christodoulides, House President Annita Dimitriou, and former President Nicos Anastasiades, who praised her dignity and social contribution.

The funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 10:00 at the Constantinou and Elenis Cemetery. The family will receive condolences starting at 09:00.
