Emy Kasoulides, wife of former Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, dies at 76

Emy Kasoulides, a respected physician and the wife of former Cypriot Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides, passed away on September 19, 2026, at the age of 76. She had been battling cancer for several years, a period during which she continued to work as an anesthesiologist despite undergoing surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.

Born in Nicosia, Dr. Kasoulides studied medicine in France, where she first met her husband. Throughout her life, she maintained a low profile while supporting her husband's extensive political career. The couple had one daughter, Joanna, and two granddaughters, Emily and Katerina. President Nikos Christodoulides expressed his condolences, honoring her legacy as a dedicated scientist, mother, and grandmother who remained active in civil society.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 22, at 10:00 at the Konstantinou and Elenis cemetery in Nicosia. The family will receive visitors starting at 09:00 on the morning of the service.
