EKAV officials and first responders address allegations regarding Giorgos Mazonakis' emergency transport

Following the death of 54-year-old singer Giorgos Mazonakis, a dispute has emerged between EKAV emergency responders and the doctors who treated him at a private clinic in Kolonaki. Giorgos Mathiopoulos, president of the EKAV employees' union, stated that the ambulance crew was given limited information upon arrival, specifically only that the patient had not been connected to a medical device. This follows accusations from doctors Ilias Theodoropoulos and Ioanna Gaka that the EKAV crew failed to follow protocols, including performing CPR.

Responding to these claims, EKAV rescuer Leonidas Sidiropoulos testified that the doctors failed to provide essential medical history or medication records. Sidiropoulos emphasized that the crew operated efficiently, taking only two minutes and 40 seconds to transport the patient from the clinic to the ambulance. He rejected the claims of negligence, asserting that the ambulance staff strictly followed established medical protocols during the emergency transport to Elpis Hospital. The situation remains under scrutiny as both sides continue to provide conflicting accounts of the handover process and the medical actions taken during the crisis.
