Cyprus weather forecast: weak low pressure brings isolated rain and thunderstorms

Cyprus is currently being affected by a weak low-pressure system, which is causing unsettled weather conditions across the island. Since September 19, meteorologists have observed a pattern of mostly clear mornings followed by increasing cloud cover in the afternoons, leading to isolated rain and brief thunderstorms, particularly in mountainous and inland regions. Temperatures are consistently reaching highs of approximately 33°C to 35°C in inland areas, around 31°C along the coast, and between 21°C and 24°C in the higher mountains.

Wind conditions have varied, shifting from light south-westerly to north-westerly breezes to more moderate and occasionally strong gusts of 4 to 5 on the Beaufort scale, particularly along southern coastal areas during the afternoon hours. Sea conditions are generally reported as calm to slightly rough, with some variation during peak wind periods. Nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to approximately 18°C to 20°C inland and as low as 13°C in elevated areas.

The Department of Meteorology expects this pattern to continue through Thursday, September 24. Forecasters anticipate similar developments of afternoon cloudiness, bringing isolated showers or thunderstorms.
