Cyprus weather forecast: weak low pressure brings isolated showers and storms

A weak low-pressure system is currently affecting Cyprus, leading to a recurring weather pattern characterized by mostly clear mornings followed by afternoon cloud build-ups. From September 19 through September 22, the island has experienced consistent temperatures, with highs reaching approximately 33°C to 35°C inland and around 29°C to 31°C in coastal areas. Mountainous regions have seen cooler peaks ranging from 21°C to 24°C.

Meteorologists forecast that these conditions, which include isolated rain and occasional thunderstorms primarily affecting inland and mountainous terrains, will persist through the middle of the week. Winds are generally expected to blow from the southwest to northwest at speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally strengthening to 4 to 5 Beaufort along the southern coast during afternoon hours. Nighttime conditions will remain mostly clear with low cloud patches, as temperatures drop to roughly 13°C in the mountains and 18°C to 21°C in inland and coastal areas.

Looking ahead, the Department of Meteorology indicates that the trend of afternoon showers and potential thunderstorms will continue through Thursday. Coastal areas may also experience light fog or mist during the early morning hours, particularly toward the latter part of the week, while overall temperature levels are expected to remain stable.
