New revelations concerning Tal Dilian's surveillance network and ties to Cyprus authorities

A confidential report by the Audit Office has exposed a network of companies established by former Mossad agent Tal Dilian, which engaged in the production and sale of surveillance software in Cyprus. The report details various contracts and transactions between these companies and agencies of the Republic of Cyprus, sparking concerns regarding the potential monitoring of citizens, politicians, and state officials.

The investigation highlights contradictions in official testimonies provided to the House Legal Affairs Committee on November 9, 2022, and June 28, 2023. While the then-Chief of Police initially denied the purchase of services from Dilian, he later confirmed that the police acquired data extraction and visual material systems in 2011 and 2014. Allegations have also been raised regarding potential cooperation between political parties and the former agent.

In May 2023, these findings were submitted to the Anti-Corruption Authority for further examination. The case is currently under scrutiny to determine the legitimacy of the contracts and whether illegal surveillance activities took place. The legal proceedings gained renewed momentum following Dilian's recent first-instance conviction, as authorities continue to investigate the extent of his influence and transactions within the Cypriot state apparatus.
