Cyprus launches initiative to provide state land to families at 25% of market value

The Cypriot Ministry of Interior has announced a new plan to distribute over 570 state-owned plots of land across all districts to eligible families. This initiative aims to make housing more affordable for low- and middle-income households by offering the land at only 25% of its current market value, enabling the construction of primary residences.

Minister of Interior Constantinos Ioannou stated that the project, which utilizes existing unallocated state land, also intends to support rural communities, particularly in mountainous and disadvantaged areas. In addition to the initial 570 plots, the government plans to create further opportunities by subdividing additional state land in response to interest from various communities. The program is designed to improve housing options for young families and promote social cohesion, with the government expected to implement specific income-based criteria for potential beneficiaries.
