Elderly man dies following a dispute over a sunbed in Vouliagmeni
An 82-year-old man died on September 20, 2026, following a violent physical confrontation at a beach in Vouliagmeni. The dispute, which involved a 76-year-old man, reportedly began over a sunbed at the Akti Vouliagmeni facility. Sources state the victim was at the beach with his wife, while the 76-year-old arrived with a 21-year-old companion. Following an initial argument that led the 21-year-old to visit the beach clinic due to feeling unwell, a physical altercation subsequently broke out between the two men.
The 82-year-old collapsed during the fight and received emergency cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation at the beach clinic before being transported by ambulance to the Asklipieio Hospital in Voula, where he was pronounced dead at 11:00. While some reports suggest he died from injuries sustained during the fight, others indicate he suffered a cardiac arrest. Authorities have detained the 76-year-old and the 21-year-old woman, both of whom were taken to the Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni police station for questioning.
Investigations are currently ongoing to determine whether the death was caused by external injuries or underlying health issues. Law enforcement officials are working to clarify the exact circumstances leading to the fatal outcome.
