Almost 6 kilograms of cannabis seized at Larnaca Airport

Customs officials at Larnaca Airport in Cyprus discovered two suspicious packages in a temporary cargo storage area on September 10 and 11, 2026. The packages, which originated from third countries, were subjected to inspections by airport authorities working in cooperation with the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN).

Upon examination, officials found ten separate packages containing green dried cannabis plant material with a total weight of 5 kilograms and 798 grams. The narcotics were initially seized by customs authorities before being handed over to the YKAN Limassol branch for further investigation and forensic analysis.

These seizures are part of ongoing joint operations between the Cyprus Customs Department and the drug enforcement services aimed at detecting and preventing the trafficking of illegal substances through national ports of entry. The investigation is currently ongoing as authorities work to determine the intended recipients and the origin of the illicit shipment.
