Nearly six kilograms of cannabis seized at Larnaca Airport

Customs officials and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) intercepted two suspicious packages at Larnaca Airport on September 10 and 11, 2026. The packages, which originated from third countries, were stored in an air cargo warehouse. A subsequent inspection revealed ten separate containers holding a total of 5.798 kilograms of dried cannabis plant material.

The seized narcotics were initially processed by Customs authorities before being handed over to the Limassol division of YKAN for further investigation. As of the latest reports, the intended recipient of the packages remains unknown. Authorities are currently conducting ongoing examinations to trace the source and destination of the shipment as part of broader operational efforts to detect and prevent drug trafficking at Cypriot airports.
