Sixteen-year-old boy killed in motorcycle crash in Paphos

A fatal traffic accident occurred on the afternoon of September 20, 2026, in the village of Argaka, Paphos district, resulting in the death of 16-year-old George Hatziioannou from Agia Marina Chrysochous. The teenager was riding an unregistered racing motorcycle west along Archbishop Makarios Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle. The motorcycle struck the left sidewalk and subsequently overturned, causing the rider serious injuries.

Emergency services transported the victim to the Polis Chrysochous Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. According to the Assistant Police Director of Paphos, Michalis Nicolaou, a helmet was found at the crash site, but investigators have not yet confirmed whether the teenager was wearing it at the time of the collision.
