Four youths arrested following attacks on food delivery workers in Limassol

On the evening of September 20, 2026, a group of approximately ten individuals targeted food delivery workers in the Yermasoyia and Mouttayaka areas of Limassol, Cyprus. In the first incident around 20:25, a 26-year-old delivery rider was assaulted with sticks and stones by the group, who subsequently stole his motorcycle, phone, wallet, and personal belongings. A second similar attack occurred shortly after, though no items were reported stolen in that instance.

Police patrols from the OPE and MMAD units responded to the area and observed the group attempting further attacks, leading to a pursuit. Four suspects—two 16-year-olds, one 17-year-old, and one 18-year-old—were apprehended and later brought before the Limassol District Court. On September 21, the court ordered the youths to be held in custody for five days. Investigations are ongoing, with detectives examining surveillance footage of three additional, unreported attacks in the vicinity to determine if the suspects are involved.

Authorities are also exploring motives, including a claim by one suspect that the assaults were organized as retaliation for an alleged attack on one of their peers by a delivery worker the previous day.
