Recent violent incidents and police operations in Limassol

On the night of September 20, 2026, a series of violent attacks against food delivery workers occurred in the Limassol district. A group of approximately ten individuals, armed with clubs and stones, robbed a 26-year-old delivery driver in the Yermasoyia area, stealing his motorcycle, phone, and cash. Shortly after, a similar assault took place in the Mouttagiaka area. Following a police operation by the OPE and MMAD units, four suspects aged 16, 17, and 18 were apprehended while allegedly attempting to target another worker. The Limassol District Court has remanded the four youths in custody for five days as investigators examine potential links to three additional non-reported attacks discovered via surveillance footage. One suspect claimed the attacks were acts of retaliation against delivery personnel.

Separately, on September 23, 2026, Limassol police arrested a 34-year-old man following a high-stakes pursuit in the Zakaki area. The suspect, wanted for domestic violence, reportedly collided with a police vehicle and struck an officer while attempting to flee. Officers fired warning shots to secure the arrest. The individual is currently facing legal proceedings, and the injured officer's condition is being monitored.
