Cyprus officials hold series of high-level meetings at the UN General Assembly

The Republic of Cyprus is participating in the 81st high-level week of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, where government officials are engaged in a series of diplomatic contacts. Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos has emphasized the necessity of upholding international law and the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The primary focus of these discussions involves addressing regional instability in the Middle East and advancing the country's broader foreign policy objectives.

Minister Kombos held strategic meetings with international counterparts, including the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani, EU High Representative Kaja Kallas, and Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis. Additionally, he participated in a working dinner centered on Middle Eastern affairs with the President of the International Institute of Peace, Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein. Simultaneously, the President of Cyprus has commenced his own schedule of engagements, including a meeting with King Abdullah of Jordan and participation in a summit regarding multilateralism, law, and global peace.

These diplomatic efforts are intended to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance multilateral cooperation across various international platforms. The delegation continues to hold meetings throughout the week to advance national interests on the global stage.
