Record participation in Limassol cycling tour

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, hundreds of participants gathered in Limassol for a 10-kilometer cycling tour held as part of the 27th annual Lemesia sports festival. The event, co-organized by the Limassol Municipality and the Limassol Cycling Club, saw residents of all ages ride through city streets and along the coastal front to promote cycling as a sustainable and enjoyable mode of transport.

The cycling tour officially began at 9:00 a.m. when Mayor Yiannis Armeftis signaled the start. Following the ride, Mayor Armeftis highlighted the city's commitment to sustainable urban mobility, announcing plans to construct approximately 50 kilometers of new cycling infrastructure in the future. The event successfully turned the city center into a vehicle-free space for the duration of the morning, emphasizing a shift toward more human-friendly and environmentally conscious transport.

This year’s edition of the event marked a record-breaking number of participants compared to previous years. The Lemesia festival, which serves as Limassol's premier sporting event, is scheduled to continue on October 11 with the 28th Marios Agathangelou road race along the Molos promenade.
