Charity flag raised at 4,300 meters in Italian Alps

A group of 20 members from the Machallekides Gym completed a challenging expedition in the Italian Alps, successfully reaching two peaks: Balmenhorn and Vincent Pyramid. Led by trainer and International Fitness Presenter Giorgos Machallekides, the team braved extreme conditions, glaciers, and physical exhaustion to reach altitudes of up to 4,300 meters.

The primary objective of this mission was to raise the flag of the "Mikroi Iroes" (Little Heroes) foundation, an organization that supports children battling cancer. The flag was officially handed to the team before their departure by the foundation’s president, Betty Antoniadou. The expedition was documented by photographer Bora Markovic.

At the peak of Balmenhorn, situated near the statue of Jesus Christ, the climbers placed the flag to symbolize hope, strength, and love for children fighting cancer. Machallekides emphasized that the success of the mission, despite the harsh weather and geographical challenges, serves as a testament to the values of resilience and freedom which the foundation seeks to promote for young patients across the region.
