Cyprus pension reform bill scheduled for parliamentary debate in October

Cypriot Minister of Labour, Marinos Mousiouttas, announced that the government’s pension reform bill is scheduled to be submitted to the House of Representatives by the end of September. The formal parliamentary discussion regarding the reform is set to commence on October 13.

During a session of the Labour Advisory Board, Minister Mousiouttas urged social partners to expedite their final consultations, emphasizing that the core philosophy of the reform has been under discussion for two years. He noted that stakeholders have already received detailed proposals and expertise provided by the International Labour Organization (ILO). The Minister called for a swift resolution of remaining queries during the next three sessions to ensure the transition to the article-by-article discussion phase, stating that the government has provided all necessary framework conditions to reach an agreement.
