Cyprus national teams prepare for international football fixtures

The Cyprus men’s national team is in Podgorica to face Montenegro today, September 25, at 21:45 local time, in the opening match of Group 2, League C of the UEFA Nations League. Head coach Akis Mantzios, supported by captain Grigoris Kastanos, confirmed that the team enters the competition with a positive mindset, aiming to secure one of the top two spots in a group that also includes Armenia and Latvia. The match will be officiated by Italian referee Daniele Chiffi and broadcast on RIK. Konstantinos Laifis has been ruled out of the squad due to a muscular injury, while Christos Sielis did not travel with the team.

Simultaneously, the Cyprus U-21 national team is preparing for its own European Championship qualifying match against Romania, scheduled for today at 19:00 at the AEK Arena in Larnaca. Under new coach Marios Nikolaou, the team aims to improve its standing in Group 1 during the final stages of the qualifying campaign. Admission to the U-21 game is free for spectators over 14 upon presentation of a fan card. The U-21 side will conclude its qualifying series with matches against Kosovo on September 30 and San Marino on October 6.
