Cyprus ministry of defence signs cooperation agreement with Keve

On Monday, September 21, 2026, the Cyprus Ministry of Defence and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) signed a memorandum of cooperation to strengthen national resilience, crisis management, and civil emergency planning. The agreement was formally signed by Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas and Keve Chairman Stavros Stavrou.

The memorandum establishes a framework for collaboration between the Central Civil Emergency Planning Service (Kypsea) and Keve. Key objectives include identifying private businesses that are critical to the country's defence and security, conducting joint studies and research, and providing specialized training in crisis management for Keve members. This initiative aims to enhance the synergy between the public and private sectors during emergencies.

Keve described itself as a long-standing partner to the state regarding economic growth and national security. This agreement formalizes a deeper level of integration between the ministry and the business community to better utilize local industry and improve the Republic of Cyprus's response capabilities in potential emergency situations.
