Erdogan calls for recognition of Turkish Cypriot state at UN General Assembly

During the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 22, 2026, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reiterated his demand for the international recognition of the breakaway Turkish Cypriot entity. He emphasized that any viable solution for Cyprus must be based on the sovereign equality and equal international status of the Turkish Cypriot people.
