Consumer protection authority warns of 97 unsafe products

On September 21, 2026, the Cyprus Consumer Protection Service issued a warning regarding 97 products identified as posing risks to consumer health and safety. These items were reported to the European Union’s Safety Gate system during the week of September 14, 2026, as part of Bulletin 37, after being detected in various EU markets.

To ensure market safety, the 97 products have been distributed to relevant Cypriot authorities for inspection: 36 to the Electromechanical Services Department, 21 to the Consumer Protection Service, 15 to the Department of Labour Inspection, 10 to the Department of Road Transport, 7 to the Pharmaceutical Services, 5 to the Health Services, and 3 to the Department of Environment. Consumers are advised to check the Safety Gate website, which is available in Greek, to identify dangerous goods. Economic operators currently holding these items must notify authorities immediately, while consumers are urged to stop using identified products and return them to the point of sale.
