Cyprus identifies 97 hazardous products via EU Safety Gate system

The Cyprus Consumer Protection Service has issued a warning regarding 97 products identified as hazardous to consumer health and safety. These items were reported during the week beginning September 14, 2026, as part of the European Union’s Safety Gate alert system, which monitors dangerous goods across member states.

The identified products have been distributed among seven competent government departments for further oversight and action in the local market. Specifically, 36 products were assigned to the Department of Electromechanical Services, 21 to the Consumer Protection Service, 15 to the Department of Labour Inspection, 10 to the Department of Road Transport, 7 to the Pharmaceutical Services, 5 to the Health Services, and 3 to the Department of Environment. Officials have advised consumers to stop using these items immediately and return them where applicable.

This proactive measure aims to mitigate risks associated with defective or dangerous items currently circulating within the European internal market, ensuring that regulatory bodies can efficiently remove or rectify the issues associated with these goods.
