Interior Minister visits Paphos to discuss urban development and national issues

On September 21, 2026, Cyprus Minister of Interior Constantinos Ioannou visited Paphos to address regional development and participate in a memorial event for Nikos Kapetanidis. The minister held separate meetings with the acting mayor of Paphos, Angelos Onisiforou, the deputy district officer Frosso Georgiou, and various community council presidents to discuss pressing local issues.

The discussions primarily focused on the advancement of urban and planning projects currently underway or under evaluation in the Paphos municipality and district. Minister Ioannou emphasized that the government is committed to accelerating these developments to improve the daily lives of citizens. He noted that multiple consultations have already taken place with the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the local municipal authorities to ensure these projects proceed as quickly as possible.

During his visit, the Minister also attended a memorial event at the First Lyceum of Ethnarch Makarios III, where he represented President Nikos Christodoulides. Ioannou reiterated the government's firm commitment to the reunification of Cyprus, stating that resolving the Cyprus problem remains a top national priority despite existing political obstacles.
