Minister of interior pledges to accelerate urban projects in Paphos

On September 21, 2026, the Minister of Interior of Cyprus, Constantinos Ioannou, visited Paphos to review the progress of local urban development projects. During his visit, held alongside a memorial event for Nikos Kapetanidis, the Minister met with Paphos acting mayor Angelos Onisiforou, deputy district officer Frosso Georgiou, and various community council presidents to discuss regional infrastructure challenges.

The discussions focused on identifying and addressing obstacles to ongoing and planned urban works. Ioannou stated that the government is prioritizing these initiatives to improve local living standards. He confirmed that multiple coordination meetings have already taken place with the Paphos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EBE Paphos) and the municipal authorities to ensure these projects proceed as efficiently as possible. While some works are currently underway, others remain under active government evaluation.
