Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt hold 6th trilateral defense ministerial meeting in Cairo

On September 22, 2026, the 6th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Defense of Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt took place in Cairo. The Cypriot Minister of Defense, Vasilis Palmas, and the Greek Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias, met with their Egyptian counterpart, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, to discuss regional security developments and the strengthening of military cooperation between the three nations. The talks focused on enhancing defense partnerships, building upon the recent completion of the multinational exercise "Medusa 15–2026" held in Crete.

During the visit, Vasilis Palmas held a separate bilateral meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. Both parties reaffirmed the strategic importance of Cyprus-Egypt relations, particularly in the fields of security and defense, with President al-Sisi emphasizing the need to deepen the existing strategic partnership. The meetings underscore the ongoing efforts of the three countries to coordinate their military capabilities and maintain stability in the region, following similar recent high-level trilateral summits held in El Alamein.
