Defense ministers of Cyprus, Greece and Egypt meet in Cairo for trilateral talks

Defense Minister of Cyprus Vasilis Palmas and Greek Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias arrived in Cairo on September 21, 2026, to participate in the 6th trilateral meeting of defense ministers between Cyprus, Greece, and Egypt, scheduled for September 22. The discussions will focus on enhancing military cooperation, joint training exercises, and regional security issues.

The visit follows the conclusion of the multinational military exercise 'Medusa 15–2026' held in Crete, which involved Greece, Cyprus, Egypt, France, and Italy. That exercise featured aeronautical, amphibious, and special operations, including scenarios to counter drone swarm attacks. During his stay in Cairo, Minister Palmas is also expected to hold a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and conduct bilateral discussions with his Egyptian counterpart, Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, and Greek Minister Dendias to discuss further defense partnership development.
