The majority of the leadership has urged party president Annita Demetriou to announce her candidacy, citing her as the candidate with the highest probability of success. Demetriou and the party leadership have agreed to delay any official announcements until after the United Nations General Assembly in New York, prioritizing potential developments in the Cyprus problem. Internal discussions regarding the electoral timeline are ongoing, with proposals for finalizing the candidate selection ranging from the end of 2026 to March 2027.
