First Russian-Cypriot Cinema Days to be held in Nicosia

The first International Russian-Cypriot Cinema Days festival is scheduled to take place on September 25 and 26 at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Nicosia. Organized by the Russian Centre and the St. Petersburg-based NGO Svoy Krug, the event aims to foster cultural dialogue between Russia and Cyprus by showcasing a selection of contemporary feature and short films.

The festival will open on September 25 at 7:00 p.m. with a ceremony featuring the Al’Singers choir and the attendance of various cultural and social figures. At 7:30 p.m., the screening program begins with the 2024 Cypriot film "Smaragda: I Got Thick Skin and I Can’t Jump," directed by Emilios Avraam. The film, which previously won the Best Cypriot Film award at the 23rd Cyprus Film Days, features award-winning actress Niovi Charalambous. Following the screening, the audience will have the opportunity to participate in a discussion with the film's creators, conclude the evening with a cocktail reception, and engage in informal cultural networking.
