Upcoming film festivals in Cyprus

Cyprus will host two distinct film events in autumn 2026, beginning with the inaugural Russian-Cypriot Cinema Days. This festival, organized by the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Nicosia and the St. Petersburg-based NGO Svoy Krug, will take place on September 25 and 26. The opening ceremony on September 25 at 7:00 PM features the Al’Singers choir, followed by the screening of the award-winning 2024 film 'Smaragda – I Got Thick Skin and I Can’t Jump' directed by Emilios Avraam, which previously won Best Cypriot Film at the 23rd Cyprus Film Days.

Separately, the 16th International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (ISFFC) is scheduled for October 10 to 16, 2026, at the Rialto Theatre in Limassol. The festival’s national competition program will showcase 13 short films, including works by directors such as Alexandra Matheou, Argyro Nicolaou, and Christos Kardanas. The competition covers a diverse array of fiction and documentary projects focusing on themes of identity, family relations, and evolving environments, providing local filmmakers with a platform for international networking and potential co-productions.
