Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz concludes visit to occupied Cyprus

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz concluded a two-day visit to the occupied areas of Cyprus on Saturday, September 21, 2026. The visit culminated in a meeting with Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman at the 'presidential' compound, attended by Turkish 'ambassador' Ali Murat Bascieri. Earlier in the day, Yilmaz visited Morphou to inaugurate a new cold storage facility for the citrus packaging company Cypfruvex, which was funded by Turkey. During his speech, he highlighted that 18,730 decares of agricultural land in the Morphou plain are now irrigated using water supplied via a pipeline from Turkey. Yilmaz stated that this infrastructure project aims to preserve the commercial value of regional agricultural products.

Regarding future economic strategy, the Vice President announced that Turkish authorities are developing new support programs for the primary sector, agriculture, and industry, which will include interest-subsidized loan packages. He emphasized Turkey's commitment to overcoming the effects of international isolation through various methods, asserting that new support mechanisms would be implemented to bolster the local economy.
