Ergodotisi report highlights high job mobility among employed workers in Cyprus

The Ergodotisi Job Seekers Pulse 2026 report, based on a survey of over 1,000 respondents conducted in June and July 2026, reveals that the Cypriot labor market is characterized by high mobility among currently employed individuals. Although 69.3% of survey participants hold full-time positions, 88.9% express openness to changing jobs, with only 5.8% stating they are not interested in new opportunities. Only 16.6% of respondents currently identify as unemployed and actively looking for work.

The findings highlight that employers must look beyond the pool of unemployed candidates to find talent, as the vast majority of the workforce is potentially receptive to new offers. When evaluating a move, candidates prioritize competitive compensation but also demand transparency regarding salary, career progression, working conditions, flexibility, management styles, and general company culture. Specifically, 46.1% of respondents are actively searching, 28.9% are open to the right opportunity, and 13.8% would consider a strong offer.

This data suggests a shift in recruitment strategies, requiring employers to communicate more comprehensively about the total value of a role to convert interest into action. As the talent pool remains fluid, the survey emphasizes that job mobility is driven by the desire for better professional conditions rather than the simple necessity of employment.
