Theodoros Stavrou appointed as new president of Cyprus Compliance Association

The Cyprus Compliance Association has officially announced a change in its leadership, with Theodoros Stavrou assuming the role of president, effective September 18, 2026. The appointment aims to ensure the continuity of the association's operations and its ongoing mission to oversee compliance standards within the region.

Stavrou is a founding member of the association and brings extensive experience in regulatory compliance, anti-money laundering (AML), and counter-terrorism financing. His professional background includes 17 years at MOKAS, the Cypriot Financial Intelligence Unit, and his current role as Head of Compliance at Société Générale Bank Cyprus. Previously, he served the association as an L&D Director and a board member.

Under his leadership, the association plans to focus on further growth, increasing member participation, and providing greater value to the professional community in areas of regulatory compliance, risk management, and corporate governance. The transition marks a strategic step toward strengthening the organization's influence and functionality in the Cypriot financial sector.
