Polls show CTP leading in occupied Cyprus ahead of elections

Recent political developments in the occupied territories of Cyprus indicate that the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) maintains a significant lead ahead of upcoming elections. According to a September 2026 survey by the Center for Migration, Identity and Rights Studies (CMIRS), the CTP holds 47.28% of voter support, compared to 21.72% for the National Unity Party (UBP). Other parties, such as the Communal Democracy Party (TKP) and the Rebirth Party (YDP), poll at lower single digits.

Party leader Sila Usar Incirli stated that the CTP's platform focuses on anti-corruption, economic stabilization, and public infrastructure reforms. Data from the CMIRS study highlights that 85.6% of respondents believe the region is heading in the wrong direction, with the economy, the Cyprus issue, and energy infrastructure identified as the most pressing concerns. The CTP maintains that their proposed policies were developed with expert input to ensure a more inclusive governance model, aiming to address the high cost of living and demographic challenges.
