Walking Bus program returns to Aglantzia Elementary School

The 'Walking Bus' program is officially returning to the 4th Primary School of Aglantzia for its second consecutive year. Commencing on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, the initiative is part of a broader effort by the Nicosia Municipality to promote sustainable mobility and healthy lifestyle habits among students.

The project encourages children to walk to school in organized groups, providing a safe and social environment before the start of the academic day. By centralizing pedestrian routes, the program aims to reduce reliance on private vehicles, thereby alleviating traffic congestion in the immediate vicinity of the school and improving safety for students, parents, and faculty.

This year's relaunch is timed to coincide with the European Mobility Week 2026. According to the Nicosia Municipality, the program is no longer viewed as a one-time event but as a permanent fixture intended to instill long-term behavioral changes in daily commuting habits within local neighborhoods.
