Car-free day event held in Limassol

On Sunday, September 20, 2026, Gladstone Street in Limassol was transformed into a pedestrian-only zone as part of the European Mobility Week. The event featured various family-oriented activities and creative workshops designed to encourage sustainable urban living and reduce reliance on private vehicles.

The initiative was organized by the Limassol Tourism Development and Promotion Company (ETAP Limassol), with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Tourism. Key partners included the Municipality of Limassol, Friends of the Earth Cyprus, and the Organization for Positive Urbanism (OPU). A highlight of the day was the participation of students from the 3rd Primary School of Limassol, who engaged in a painting competition titled "Mobility for All." Through their artwork, the children presented their vision for safer and more human-centered city infrastructure. Winners of the competition were awarded during the festivities.

ETAP Limassol president Andreas Tsouloftas emphasized the organization's ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable development and mobility. The event served as a practical demonstration of how urban spaces can be repurposed to prioritize citizens' well-being and environmental health.
