Chaos with joint-owned buildings, nearly 7,000 unregistered

Thousands of apartment buildings in Cyprus remain unregistered, creating significant regulatory and safety challenges. Reports indicate that nearly 6,711 buildings and 60,000 individual homes lack final approval certificates, with the Land Registry estimating that only 40% of these properties meet the criteria for registration. Regional Local Government Organizations are now tasked with addressing this long-standing issue and are calling for immediate legislative action, including the digitalization of records and the implementation of building inspections, to effectively regulate the sector.
