New digital tools introduced for traffic fine management in Cyprus

Drivers in Cyprus can now check for outstanding traffic fines recorded by the camera system via the official online platform, cycamerasystem.com.cy. This digital tool allows users to verify potential violations associated with their vehicles, pay fines directly, submit objections, or declare if another person was operating the vehicle at the time of the incident, eliminating the need to wait for physical mail notifications.

Simultaneously, the Ministry of Transport, led by Evi Tsolaki, is advancing a revised legislative bill designed to modernize the notification process for traffic violations. Following a legal review that began in February, the bill is expected to reach the Council of Ministers and subsequently the House of Representatives soon. This legislation aims to replace traditional registered mail with digital delivery methods, including SMS alerts and email notifications sent to contact details registered in government databases, ensuring faster and more reliable communication with offenders.
