Six-year-old girl sets new women's world record for Rubik's cube

Six-year-old Lian Yunzhi from China’s Sichuan province has shattered the women's world record for solving a 3x3x3 Rubik's cube twice within just three days. Competing in official World Cube Association (WCA) events held in Wuhan and Guangzhou, the young speedcuber initially set a record with an average time of 4.52 seconds. She subsequently improved this performance to 4.27 seconds, becoming the only woman globally to achieve an average time under 4.5 seconds.

Lian’s rapid progress is attributed to a rigorous training regimen where she mastered over 1,300 solving algorithms. Over the past year, she practiced for two to three hours daily. When her initial progress plateaued, her parents relocated her to Shanghai to work with professional trainers. Her dedication and systematic approach to speed and accuracy have placed her at the pinnacle of competitive speedcubing despite her young age.
