Road construction and traffic regulation updates across Cyprus

Various road construction and traffic regulation projects are underway across Cyprus through late September and early October 2026. The Department of Forests is conducting watering works along the embankments of the Larnaca-Paralimni, Larnaca-Kofinou, and Larnaca-Nicosia highways from July 27 to September 30, affecting shoulders between 08:30 and 14:30 on weekdays, though traffic is not expected to be significantly disrupted.

In the Nicosia district, significant urban traffic changes are scheduled. On September 26, Pediaiou Street in Lakatamia will be closed from 07:00 to 16:00 for private sewage construction. Starting September 28, the Nicosia Municipality will implement traffic changes in Agios Dometios, including reintroducing two-way traffic on a section of Markou Drakou Street and installing new one-way systems and parking restrictions on Persefonis and Vasilissis Sofias streets. Furthermore, beginning October 3, traffic adjustments including one-way conversion and parking bans will be implemented on Agiou Ilarionos Street in Engomi.

Local authorities advise drivers to remain cautious, follow road signage, and avoid parking in areas where work is ongoing. These measures are part of broader local infrastructure maintenance and urban planning initiatives regulated under municipal traffic laws.
