Alpha Bank and Eurobank execute major share buybacks
Between September 14 and September 18, 2026, major Greek lenders Alpha Bank and Eurobank executed significant share buyback operations on Euronext Athens. Alpha Bank acquired 2,033,797 of its own shares for a total of €9,832,079.81, at an average price of €4.8343 per share. These transactions were conducted in two tranches, with the first session on September 14 involving 1,003,285 shares and the second on September 18 involving 1,030,512 shares.
Simultaneously, Eurobank purchased 1,313,681 of its own shares for approximately €6.14 million, maintaining an average price of €4.6710. This brought Eurobank's total treasury holdings to 27,131,714 shares. Eurobank’s purchases, facilitated by Eurobank Equities, took place across three days between September 14 and 16. The buyback programs for both institutions were previously authorized by their respective annual general meetings held in 2026, following formal corporate updates issued earlier in the year.
The initiatives follow approved corporate strategies aimed at optimizing capital structure. Both banks continue to operate under their established buyback frameworks, which were formally initiated following shareholder resolutions earlier this year, specifically in April for Eurobank and June for Alpha Bank.
