Slovene National Theatre Maribor to perform Don Quixote in Paphos

The National Ballet of Slovenia, representing the Slovene National Theatre Maribor (SNG Maribor), is set to perform the classical ballet “Don Quixote” in Cyprus. The production, organized by Celebrity Gala and Papadopoulos & Schinis Productions, will take place on September 25 and 26, 2026, on an open-air stage located by the walls of the Paphos Medieval Castle.

Led by Artistic Director Edward Clug, the performance marks the company’s first venture into the classical repertoire during their Cypriot tours. The troupe is recognized as one of Europe’s leading ballet companies, maintaining partnerships with prestigious venues such as the Vienna State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, and La Scala in Milan. International demand for the company remains high, with recent performances held in locations including Dubai, Hong Kong, and São Paulo.

This event represents the company's third visit to the island. They previously performed “Zorba” in September 2025, followed by “Radio & Juliet” and “Proof” in February 2026. These successful engagements have established a familiar rapport between the ensemble and local audiences, leading to this latest high-profile production of the three-act classic.
